Global Finance has recognised BBVA as Spain's best investment bank following a selection process involving the world's best banks present in the country.

BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking achieved this accolade in exceptionally challenging market conditions by demonstrating its ability to offer its customers the best investment banking advisory services and providing liquidity to support their strategic projects. BBVA Group's customers appreciate in particular the experience and quality of the BBVA teams specialising in mergers and acquisitions, fixed income and equity origination, markets, lending and transactional banking solutions, which was a key factor behind Global Finance's decision to confer this accolade.

The publication used a series of objective criteria including market share and number and size of investment banking transactions executed along with other qualitative criteria ranging from advice capabilities, innovation and service to origination and distribution, with input from customers and industry experts.

Global Finance explained that the successful banks in the various categories this year surpassed their peers by embracing reforms, restructuring, and implementing long-term strategic plans to succeed in the new regulatory environment.
