BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking has started publishing "Covered Bond Corner", a fortnightly report providing analysis on the covered bonds market, prepared by Global Markets Research specialists and focusing especially on the Spanish covered bonds market.

Each issue will provide commentary on movements in the primary and secondary markets around the world. "Covered Bond Corner" will mainly concentrate on Europe where this type of product represents a significant proportion in debt markets, although this space will not be treated as entirely homogeneous. The first issue, for example, includes in-depth profiles for Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy – countries that are considered to be strategic to BBVA's lending business.

"Covered Bond Corner" will also provide intelligence and analysis on regulations, credit ratings and movements in the economy, along with the headline regulatory changes affecting the financial sector and other assets such as ABS (Asset-Backed Securities) that could impact the dynamics of covered bonds.

The first issue will offer an overview of the current status of the covered bonds market and how it has performed in 2013, while the second issue will focus on the outlook for the coming year in terms of volumes of issues and market dynamics.
