BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking obtained the top position in both Expansión and Cinco Días newspapers' ranking for the most dynamic entity in the Spanish bonds market in 2013.

Furthermore, the latter newspaper also gave the entity the top ranking in the capital markets - the sum of bond and loan volume - after it reached 19.431 billion euros in this category.

In the bonds segment, the Spanish bank maintained its leadership position in Expansión's rankings for the fifth consecutive year, with 13.750 billion dollars placed in 2013. During this period, the capital market team participated in large operations involving different placements like the Spanish Treasury 30-year bonds, hybrid Telefónica bonds and Ferrovial debt. Also notable was the issuance of 1.5 billion dollars in bonds carried out by the bank to reinforce its own Tier-1 capital.

In the other ranking published by both media outlets, relating to loans and structured finance, BBVA had the second highest volume in the market. Regarding to the number of loan operations, Cinco Días counted 124, making BBVA the bank with the highest number, totaling 4.168 billion euros.

In 2013, the bank carried out transactions such as the refinancing of El Corte Inglés, Eroski and Gas Natural Fenosa, and also mixed loan and bond schemes, such as Madrileña Red de Gas, the A-66 highway and Gestamp.
