BBVA has been recognized by its customers more often than any other bank as the best derivatives provider in the Spanish market, as shown in Risk España survey. This year's is the tenth survey by the specialized magazine from the Incisivemedia Group, and it is the eighth time BBVA has been ranked first.

The magazine notes that BBVA has maintained its first place in the rankings year after year. As well as the general category of best derivatives house, BBVA renews its leadership in up to a total of 14 categories, including interest-rate and currency derivatives, and research and risk management advisory services.
Víctor Martínez San Martín, Global Head of Sales in Global Markets, explains: "We have a clear, client-driven business model. We haven't developed a key product strategy, or tried a business model where we push out a specific product class at the expense of all others. Instead, we have a model where we willingly share our views and strategies with clients. This builds client loyalty, which is a win win for both sides. We've also taken steps to integrate our local platform together with our local platform".

With respect to the credit markets, Alfonso de Miguel, Head of Global Structured Solutions, says that "we expect an increase of issuance in the primary market, together with greater liquidity in the secondary market. This means more variety of credit names to build up our structured products and, therefore, greater flexibility and more attractive payoffs."

Altura, BBVA's listed products broker, has also been chosen as the best broker in Spain for the tenth consecutive year. Enrique Castillo, Head of Derivatives Sales at Altura, notes that "the markets are trading higher, so and asset managers are increasing allocations to equity and are also buying protection to hedge these portfolios against a downturn and heightened volatility. The big loser has been short-term interest rate products because yields are flat".

More than 338 market experts participated in the survey, including financial intermediaries, brokers, fund managers and large enterprises in Spain. They evaluated the best providers in 18 derivatives categories, ranging between interest rates, currencies, equities, structured products and risk management advisory.
The latest distinction awarded by Risk España highlights once again the level of specialized services offered by BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking, considered a benchmark in the industry.
