BBVA hires Robert Schmieder as Head of Credit Research for Latin America in New York. This appointment allows BBVA to increase its coverage of Latin American companies for institutional investors and strengthen its leadership position in the region.

Robert Schmieder  has joined BBVA Securities in New York as Head of Credit Research for Latin America. Mr. Schmieder brings to BBVA more than twenty-five years of experience in credit research, including twenty years analyzing and covering credit risk of Latin American corporates. Sectors that he has covered include telecoms & media, metals & mining, and industrials. Previously, Mr. Schmieder was a Managing Director and Head of Corporate Credit Research in Latin America for HSBC Securities. He has an MBA degree from New York University.

Mr. Schmieder will be leading a research team with the objective to expand BBVA´s coverage of corporate credits in Latin America, and reinforce the company´s existing position as a leading broker/dealer for credits in the region. BBVA provides sales and trading in Latin American credits through teams in New York, London, Mexico City, Madrid, Dusseldorf, Milan, Lisbon, Paris and Hong Kong. Additionally, BBVA has specialized debt capital markets teams in New York, London and Mexico City that work with its banks across Latin America to raise debt capital for local corporates in international markets.
