BBVA advises Grupo Osborne in its approach to the Chinese marketJuly 17, 2014
BBVA has acted as advisor of Grupo Osborne in the incorporation of Fosun, the largest private-owned conglomerate in mainland China, as its new strategic partner and minority shareholder.
This is the first completed transaction of a Chinese investor in a Spanish Food & Beverage company ever and will enable Osborne to grow faster in both domestic and international markets.
By this agreement, Fosun becomes Osborne's strategic partner forming part of its shareholding through a capital increase of 20%, while the Osborne family holds the remaining capital stock.
With this partnership Osborne aims to achieve a larger dimension for acquiring spirit companies and brands and to encourage the growth of its brands within the attractive Chinese market, whereby Fosun becomes Osborne's partner for the development of its business in China and rest of Asia.
BBVA's participation in this transaction consolidates its role as preferred M&A franchise in Spain since 2009, being the most active advisor in Spain in the consumer and retail sector. Euromoney Magazine has recognised its performance awarding BBVA as Best M&A House in Spain in 2014.
