BBVA Corporate Finance has acted as exclusive financial advisor to Carvajal in the sale of its publishing business, Carvajal Soluciones Educativas, to Grupo Santillana. This is the largest deal ever completed in the education publishing industry in Colombia.

BBVA has offered Grupo Carvajal a wide range of advisory services, including the design of the process, the preparation of marketing materials, asset valuation, due diligence coordination, and structuring and strategic advice during the deal.
The bank organized a sales process designed to maximize the value and the certainty of closing with over 20 potential investors contacted, including relevant strategic and financial players at international level.
BBVA Corporate Finance's capabilities and experience have been key to the closing of this complex cross-border transaction involving Colombia, Spain and another seven Latin American countries.
The sale of Carvajal Soluciones Educativas is part of Carvajal's strategy to focus its activity on those business lines where it has a larger scale and a better competitive position. It also enables it to monetize assets for investment and expansion in its core assets.
For Santillana, this acquisition offers the chance to become the undisputed leader of the education publishing sector in Latin America, strengthening its market share in the region.
