BBVA advises Actis in the acquisition of Nabiax’s Data Centre platform in Latin America and USA
BBVA has acted as sole financial advisor to Actis in the acquisition of the Data
Centre platform in Latin America and USA of Nabiax, a company that offers hosting and
colocation services in Data Centres that is owned by Asterion Industrial Partners
and Telefónica. Nabiax was established in 2019 after Asterion acquired a global
platform of Data Centres from Telefónica, transaction that was also advised by
BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking.
The platform is located across six countries in Latin America and the US,
including Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and a small exposure in the US
(Florida). First constructed by Telefónica to support both its own operations and its
clients, the 11 Data Centres boast a combined IT capacity of more than 20 MW.
Telefónica will remain as anchor tenant of the platform under a long-term contract.
This is a landmark deal for Actis as it represents the first investment in Latin
America in the Digital Infrastructure space, and it expands their global platform of
Data Centres by complementing its already established digital infra presence in
Asia and Africa. Nabiax will constitute the base for future growth in Digital
Infrastructure for Actis in the region.
With this transaction, BBVA strengthens its position as the M&A advisor leader in
TMT and infrastructure transactions, having advised on some of the most relevant
transactions in the sector so far. Despite a challenging macroeconomic
environment, coupled with highly volatile markets, BBVA Corporate & Investment
Banking’s unique M&A cross-border execution capabilities, its regional
presence in Latin America and its know-how and understanding of the local markets
have been instrumental in enabling the successful completion of this complex
transaction.
