BBVA CIB consolidates its global leadership with six awards at the Euromoney Awards 2025

BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking has been honoured with six awards at the 2025 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, including the prestigious title of Europe's Best Bank for Large Corporates, a distinction granted to the institution for the first time. The British publication also acknowledged BBVA CIB’s prominent role in strategic markets such as Spain and Mexico, as well as its strong commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The awards ceremony, held in London on 17 July and attended by more than 350 representatives from the global financial sector, reaffirms BBVA CIB’s position as a benchmark in investment banking and corporate advisory on an international scale. This year, Euromoney recognised the bank’s ability to deliver long-term value, its leadership in sophisticated financial solutions, and its unwavering focus on sustainability across key markets.
Receiving the Europe's Best Bank for Large Corporates award marks a significant milestone in BBVA CIB’s global trajectory and reinforces its strategic ambition to be the trusted partner of choice for corporates, supporting them in their most critical growth decisions.
“At BBVA, we support our clients not only as bankers, but as catalysts for their long-term transformation. This award reflects the evolution of our franchise into a strategic partner for Europe’s leading corporations—driven by our global footprint, deep sector expertise, and firm commitment to sustainability,” said Leyre Mena, Head of BBVA CIB for Continental Europe.
“This commitment is reflected in our ability to accelerate the decarbonisation of the real economy and structure innovative financial solutions for green infrastructure projects, even in the most complex environments,” added Anselmo Andrade, Head of BBVA CIB in the United Kingdom.
Euromoney also highlighted BBVA CIB’s strength in two of its strategic markets: Spain and Mexico. In Spain, the bank was named Spain's Best Bank for Large Corporates for the second consecutive year, while also receiving the awards for Best Bank for Sustainable Finance and Best Investment Bank for Financing. These recognitions underscore BBVA’s expertise in advanced financial structuring and its leadership in sustainable financing.
“At BBVA CIB, we support companies with a long-term vision, fostering lasting relationships based on trust, innovation and sustainability. Our combination of global reach, local presence and sector-specific expertise enables us to structure high-impact, tailor-made financial solutions, even in the most complex environments. The leadership we are recognised for today is the result of a client-centric approach, focused on delivering tangible, sustained impact on their growth and transformation,” says José Ramón Vizmanos, Head of BBVA CIB in Spain.
In Mexico—a key market for BBVA—the bank reaffirmed its leadership by once again being named Best Investment Bank and, for the first time, Best Bank for Sustainable Finance, reflecting its capacity to provide innovative solutions that support the transition of economic models in an increasingly demanding regional context.
“At BBVA Mexico, we are extremely proud to once again be recognised as the country’s Best Investment Bank, and for the first time, as Best Bank for Sustainable Finance,” said Álvaro Vaqueiro, Head of BBVA CIB Mexico. “These awards from Euromoney validate the strength and differentiation of our Corporate & Investment Banking proposition, which combines deep local market knowledge with global capabilities, high-value structured solutions, and a clear commitment to driving sustainability. This recognition would not be possible without the trust of our clients and the dedication of the entire CIB team.”
Lastly, Garanti BBVA, the Group’s Turkish subsidiary, has strengthened its regional sphere of influence and secured recognition as Best Bank for Sustainable Finance in Turkey. “We are committed to generating systemic, long-term value by integrating ESG considerations into our business model. With this approach, we go beyond financial services, and contribute to sustainable development across society, environment and the economy. This recognition is a strong indication that our vision resonates on an international level,” said Sinem Edige, head of CIB at Garanti BBVA.
These awards reinforce BBVA CIB’s strategy of supporting its clients in their international expansion by offering high-impact financial solutions grounded in sustainability, innovation, and deep expertise across industries and markets.
