BBVA continues to strengthen its positioning in South America as a strategic partner for corporates and institutions, in an environment of increasing economic dynamism and sector development. In line with this strategy, the bank has appointed Juan Fernando Gómez as Head of Global Markets in Colombia.
BBVA’s Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division is advancing in consolidating its value proposition based on global capabilities and local execution. In line with its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, BBVA CIB in South America structures its growth around a comprehensive solutions offering, close client relationships, the integration of sustainability criteria, and a global banking model with regional presence.
Within this strategy, Colombia is positioned as a key market for BBVA given its relevance in the Andean region and the international projection of its companies. In this context, the bank continues to strengthen its wholesale business, with a particular focus on Global Markets, a key area for delivering advanced risk management solutions and market access to corporate and institutional clients.
In this context, BBVA has appointed Juan Fernando Gómez as the new Head of Global Markets in Colombia. In this role, reporting to Catalina Laurens, Head of CIB in Colombia, he will lead the development of this business, contributing to strengthening the bank’s value proposition in markets.
Juan Fernando Gómez has more than two decades of experience in the financial sector, with a solid track record in markets. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Universidad EAFIT and a specialization in Corporate Finance from CESA.
