BBVA joins infrastructure leaders at Berlin Infrastructure Investor Network’s Global Summit

A BBVA delegation gathered in Berlin for the Infrastructure Investor Network Global Summit 2026, one of the leading global gatherings for infrastructure investors and industry leaders.

A key forum for global infrastructure dialogue

Once again, the German capital brought together thousands of investors, asset managers, and industry experts over four days.

As a sponsor, BBVA CIB played an active role in the discussions, reinforcing its commitment to supporting sustainable, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure. The summit provided a platform to exchange views on the evolving macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape, as well as the opportunities shaping the asset class.

Assessing the “three D’s” shaping infrastructure investment

Under the title “Checking in on the three D’s – where does private infrastructure stand in 2026?” Gonzalo Fernández-Turégano, Global Sector Head of Financial Sponsors at BBVA CIB, joined an insightful panel featuring Bertrand de la Borde, Global Head, Transport & Logistics at World Bank Group, Bruno Guilmette, Global Head of Infrastructure at Fiera Infrastructure and Andrew Furze, Managing Director at KKR Infrastructure.

Moderated by Ali Miraj, Head of Infrastructure Sponsor Coverage at Rabobank, the session explored how deglobalisation, decarbonisation and digitalisation are reshaping infrastructure investment strategies.

Deglobalisation, decarbonisation, digitalisation

Regarding deglobalisation, the panel examined how tariffs, protectionism and geopolitical circumstances are shaping investment decisions.

On decarbonisation, the discussion focused on the consistency of climate policy across regions and the outlook for renewables, as well as how investors can meet long-term targets amid regulatory uncertainty. The conversation also turned to digitalisation, addressing the rapid growth of data centres and the rise of AI, as well as the regulatory developments and risks emerging in a fast-evolving market.

The Financial Sponsors sector continues to be a key growth driver, supported by infrastructure investment in essential services and global M&A activity.
