BBVA named Best Trade Finance Bank in Latin America 2026 by Global Finance
BBVA has been named Best Trade Finance Bank in Latin America 2026 by Global Finance magazine, an award that reinforces the bank’s regional leadership in trade finance solutions. This recognition is complemented by country-level awards in Argentina, Peru, Spain and Uruguay, reflecting the strength of BBVA’s value proposition, the consistency of its strategy, and its ability to adapt to the specific needs of each market.
The award granted by Global Finance supports BBVA’s regional trade finance strategy, highlighting the bank’s ability to accompany international companies with solid, specialised solutions. The evaluation is based on criteria such as transaction volume, global coverage, service quality, pricing competitiveness and the use of innovative technologies.
In addition to its regional leadership, the recognition in key markets such as Argentina, Peru, Spain and Uruguay underscores the strength of BBVA’s model across diverse local environments. In Spain, the bank holds a leading position in trade finance, with a significant market share of over 20%. (as of August 2025, according to SWIFT).
BBVA’s approach to trade finance is built on deep local market knowledge, the integration of global solutions and continuous innovation through digitalisation. This strategy, supported by a direct presence in more than 30 countries and a network of over 2,300 correspondent banks across 166 markets, enables the bank to support clients in managing complex operations with agility, traceability and security, while optimising working capital and strengthening supply chains in an increasingly demanding international environment.
“This recognition in Latin America, along with the country-level awards in Argentina, Peru, Spain and Uruguay, is a testament to BBVA’s leadership and strong commitment to supporting our clients strategically and delivering innovative solutions in international trade, an area in which we have been investing consistently in recent years,” says Francisco Javier Fernández de Trocóniz, Head of Global Trade & International Banking at BBVA CIB. “Developing sophisticated products that maximise the value of our local franchises, and our focus on digitalisation and sustainability, are the pillars of our strategy, which we will continue to strengthen in the years ahead.”
These awards consolidate BBVA’s position as a benchmark in trade finance, demonstrating its ability to combine global reach with local insight, and to execute with the specialisation and alignment required to meet each client’s specific needs.
