BBVA reaffirms its leadership in Latin America with the “Loan House of the Year” award from GBM
The specialized publication recognizes BBVA as a leading institution in financing across the region, consolidating its position as one of the key players in Latin America. The award highlights the bank’s ability to lead and structure complex debt solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of each market and its clients.
BBVA has been awarded “Loan House of the Year for Latin America 2025” by Global Banking & Markets (GBM). This marks the second consecutive year the bank has received this recognition, following the award granted in 2024, reflecting the strength and consistency of its positioning in financing across the region.
During the review period, BBVA ranked among the leading institutions in the Latin American market in terms of both volume and number of transactions, standing out for the quality and sophistication of the deals it led. Among them, the USD 1.245 billion financing for Telecom Argentina’s acquisition of Telefónica Argentina stands out as the largest transaction in the country since 2018 and the largest telecommunications deal in Latin America over the past three years. In this transaction, BBVA acted as bookrunner, lead arranger and administrative agent. The bank also led and participated in the most relevant corporate and project financings in the region, including Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile, among others.
This performance is underpinned by a distinctive combination of global reach and deep local expertise. With one of the most solid platforms in the region and a strong presence in the main Latin American markets, the bank structures solutions in both U.S. dollars and local currency, covering acquisition finance, structured and project finance, as well as corporate financial advisory.
“This recognition reflects our clients’ trust and the strength of our value proposition in Latin America. Our ability to combine international market sophistication with deep local expertise enables us to structure tailored solutions and support companies in their strategic decisions, both in international and domestic markets,” said Eddy Lacayo, Managing Director, responsible for Corporate Lending in Latin America.
With this new award, BBVA strengthens its role as a leading strategic financial partner in Latin America, supported by a solid track record, strong execution capabilities and a comprehensive offering designed to support the growth and transformation of the region’s leading companies.
