This appointment is part of the bank’s global strategy to build highly specialized teams in key markets, with the aim of delivering high-impact financial solutions and becoming a trusted partner for the enterprise's ecosystem.
BBVA CIB continues to boost its business in Asia and takes a significant step forward in its global project finance strategy with the appointment of Seth Munday as Managing Director responsible for Project Finance Asia, based in Hong Kong. This move is aligned with BBVA’s plan to develop highly specialized teams in strategic markets, reflecting its focus on corporate clients and its commitment to being the go-to financial partner for companies with a vision for growth and transformation.
Asia represents a strategic region for BBVA, not only due to its economic dynamism but also for its potential to generate leading multinationals in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology. In this context, the bank seeks to support both regional and global clients with high-impact solutions in structured finance, securitized products, and balance sheet solutions, ensuring an agile and specialized response to today’s complex environment.
In his new role, Munday will play a key role in expanding BBVA’s business in the region, leading the development of the project finance franchise within the team headed by José Ferris, Head of BBVA CIB in Asia.
“By establishing a project finance team in Asia, we are expanding our product capabilities as a tool to strengthen our client relationships,” said Ferris. “Asia is a core region for BBVA CIB, and we have the capabilities, market insight, and expertise to grow in large-scale project finance, with a particular focus on energy transition—a key sector in which Asia plays a leading global role.”
Experience and strategic focus for expansion in Asia
Seth Munday brings over 20 years of experience advising clients and structuring project financings across the energy, utilities, digital, and infrastructure sectors in APAC. Prior to joining BBVA, he held senior roles at leading institutions including Santander Project Finance, SunEdison, Canadian Solar, and ANZ Banking Group, where he led numerous landmark transactions, particularly in renewable energy and energy transition investments.
