In the first episode of BBVA Greenfluencers we travel to CECOEL, the heart of the Spanish electricity industry, to talk to Roberto García Merino, CEO of Redeia.
Redeia’s strategic plan for the 2021-2025 period has a strong focus on energy transition. Roberto García, in conversation with Luisa Gómez Bravo, Global Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, points out that “in terms of investment, we are talking about around 4.4 billion euros, three quarters of which are focused on making the energy transition possible.”

Furthermore, they have recently approved an ambitious sustainability plan with demanding targets set for the 2023-2025 period. “The plan comprises 90 sub-objectives to be achieved by 2025. For example, in terms of emissions, next year we aim to meet our goal of offsetting all type 1 emissions generated by Red Eléctrica’s business activity in Spain. In addition, we have an emission reduction commitment of 30% of Type 1 and 2 emissions by 2025.”
