BBVA CIB has acted as Co-Lead Manager in the privatization of Poste Italiane through an IPO. This is the third largest IPO ever completed in Italy and the most important in the country since 1999. The Italian State has obtained 3 billion euros after selling 34.7% of Poste Italiane, completing the second largest IPO in the transportation sector in 2015 worldwide, after the AENA IPO.
The deal's Global Coordinators were Banca IMI, Citigroup, Mediobanca, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and UniCredit, while Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and UBS acted as Joint Bookrunners. BBVA, Banca Akros, MPS Capital Services, BTG Pactual, Banco Santander, Crédit Agricole and EQUITA SIM have acted as Co-Lead Managers in the IPO.
With this deal, BBVA strengthens its position both in the Italian capital market and in European privatizations in the postal sector. BBVA already took part in the IPO of CTT- Correios de Portugal in December 2013.
