BBVA enhances its institutional leadership with its incorporation into SPIRE
The bank’s adhesion to this leading platform in the European market broadens BBVA’s structuring capabilities within its client-focused Global Markets strategy and responds to the growing demand for structured solutions from institutional investors.
BBVA takes a strategic step forward in advancing its institutional business with its incorporation into SPIRE, one of the leading platforms in the European repackaged securities market. This decision reinforces its positioning as a trust partner and expands its capacity to support institutional clients in designing efficient investment solutions tailored to their needs. Participation in this platform enables the bank to deepen its relationship with strategic investors, anticipate funding opportunities and consolidate its role in a key segment for its Corporate & Investment Banking division.
The incorporation into SPIRE builds on a solid and well-established track record. BBVA has more than 25 years of experience in repackaged securities through issuers such as Atlanteo, Boiro, Douro and CID. Over this period, the bank has issued more than 2,000 series with an aggregate volume exceeding €18 billion, covering a wide range of structures linked to interest rates, foreign exchange and credit, among others. Joining this platform represents the natural evolution of a consolidated structuring capability, now integrated into an international environment with common issuance standards and the participation of multiple financial institutions.
This decision also responds to a clear and sustained demand from institutional investors who value the transparency, standardisation and liquidity offered by this type of platform. Through SPIRE, BBVA complements its current capabilities with a framework that broadens the alternatives available to clients, facilitates price formation in the secondary market and enhances operational efficiency in execution.
“We are delighted to join the SPIRE platform and to collaborate with the other participating entities in contributing to its growth. This step reflects BBVA’s ongoing commitment to listening to and understanding the needs of our institutional clients, which constitute a cornerstone of our strategy, and to further strengthening our Global Securities offering within the broader Global Markets value proposition,” said Marian Coscarón, Head of Global Securities at BBVA. “With SPIRE, our clients will gain access to a standardized issuance framework on a leading multi-entity platform, complementing our repackaging and structuring capabilities and thereby broadening the range of solutions available to support them efficiently across asset classes."
With this incorporation, BBVA enhances its client-focused Global Markets strategy, expands its capabilities to issue repackaged securities at an international level and consolidates its commitment to developing robust and efficient solutions for the institutional segment.
