BBVA México supports Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte in a MXN 3,000 million debt issuance
This transaction will enable Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte to strengthen its financial structure and continue driving the development of strategic airport infrastructure in Mexico.
BBVA México acted as joint bookrunner in the successful local debt issuance by Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V. (“OMA”), for a total amount of 3,000 million pesos across two tranches.
According to Álvaro Vaqueiro Ussel, Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at BBVA México, "this issuance confirms the ability of leading companies like OMA to access the local debt market under competitive terms, backed by solid business models and strategic assets for the country's development."
The issuance was rated 'AAA(mex)' on a national scale by Fitch Mexico, and 'AAA.mx' by Moody’s Local Mexico. The transaction was 3.2x oversubscribed relative to the allocated amount.
The proceeds obtained by OMA will be used for the full repayment of bank debt and the OMA 23L issuance, as well as to continue funding committed investments under its Master Development Plan and for general corporate purposes, thereby strengthening its capital structure and long-term capabilities.
The offering was executed under a dual-tranche, joint-limit structure as follows:
- OMA 26: A 3-year tranche for MXN 420 million at a floating rate of Funding TIIE + 39 bps.
- OMA 26-2: A 7-year tranche for MXN 2,580 million at a fixed rate pegged to the M-Bono + 39 bps, resulting in a 9.17% coupon.
OMA continues to consolidate its position as a strategic player in the development of airport infrastructure in Mexico, focusing on operational efficiency, sustainability, digitalization, and passenger service across an airport system comprised of 13 airports located in northern and central Mexico.
By participating in this transaction, BBVA México reaffirms its strong commitment to financing infrastructure and key enterprises for the country's economic development, while further consolidating its leadership in the debt capital markets.
