BBVA gains prominence in international trade amid a more demanding environment

The bank continues to strengthen its growth in international trade thanks to its ability to structure complex transactions, its investment in technology and its client-focused approach, consolidating its position as a leading financial partner and supporting international expansion.

BBVA continues to reinforce its positioning in the international trade business through its ability to support companies in increasingly sophisticated transactions, leveraging specialised teams, innovative solutions and a strong international presence. In this context, the bank stands out for its expertise in structuring syndicated financing for large corporate clients, tailoring its solutions to the specific needs of each transaction and sector. These cross-border transactions enable the provision of comprehensive financial solutions and the efficient management of risks associated with emerging markets.

This leadership is also reflected in several industry recognitions. Euromoney’s “Trade Finance 2025” survey ranks BBVA sixth globally and fifth in innovation and technology, based on the assessment of nearly 13,000 clients worldwide. In addition, TXF, the specialist trade finance publication, awarded BBVA the prize for best pre-export finance deal of the year, recognising the bank’s ability to structure complex transactions in demanding environments.

The financing, granted to Argentine company YPF, S.A. for an amount of US$700 million, was structured as a syndicated pre-export financing transaction aimed at supporting the company’s export activity. In this transaction, BBVA acted as Mandated Lead Arranger, Bookrunner and Structuring Bank, contributing to the design of a solution tailored to an emerging market and aimed at mitigating Argentina’s country risk.

“These results reflect a strategy based on investment in highly qualified teams, the development of increasingly sophisticated solutions and the use of technology to support our clients in increasingly complex environments, always with a clear focus on delivering the best service and adding value to their international operations,” said Francisco Javier Fernández de Trocóniz, Head of Global Trade & International Banking at BBVA CIB.

Through these advances, BBVA continues to strengthen its ability to support clients in international trade, consolidating its global positioning in an increasingly dynamic and competitive environment.
