BBVA Mexico participates in Fibra Uno’s MXN 7.5 billion green bond issuance
BBVA Mexico acted as lead placement agent for the issuance of green long-term trust certificates by the Fibra Uno Trust (FUNO), for a total amount of MXN 7.5 billion. The transaction attracted a total demand of more than MXN 18 billion, equivalent to 2.5 times the final amount placed.
The transaction stood out for achieving significant pricing compression, reaching the best levels in the company’s history for a local transaction with comparable maturities. This result highlights the company’s positive performance, the improvement in its credit metrics and investor confidence.
According to Álvaro Vaqueiro Ussel, Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at BBVA Mexico: "For BBVA Mexico, this offering reaffirms our strategic commitment to sustainable finance. The strong demand and pricing levels achieved demonstrate that the market supports the company’s financial strength and continues to show significant interest in instruments that generate a positive environmental impact in Mexico."
The issuance was structured in two tranches under a communicating vessels format:
- FUNO 26V: MXN 3.2 billion was allocated at a floating rate with a three-year maturity, priced at TIIE Funding plus 85 basis points.
- FUNO 26-2V: MXN 4.3 billion was placed at a fixed rate with a 10-year maturity, priced at the M Bono 36 (November) reference yield of 9.11% plus 170 basis points, resulting in a fixed coupon of 10.81%.
The bond proceeds will be used to refinance the listed bonds maturing in 2026 and 2027. This strategy reduces the company’s refinancing needs and strengthens its debt profile.
The issuance received a national-scale rating of "AAA(mex)" from Fitch Mexico, as well as an HR AAA rating from HR Ratings.
Through its participation in this transaction, BBVA Mexico reaffirms its commitment to financing companies that are key to the country’s economic progress, while further strengthening its position in the capital markets.
