BBVA Direct Payment: A New Way to Integrate Payments into the Digital Experience
Marco Aldama, Product Local CM Sales, Managing Director at GTB
BBVA Direct Payment enables companies to integrate payment directly into their portals, apps and digital experiences. It is a Pay by Bank solution that marks another step towards increasingly integrated banking, embedded within our customers’ ecosystems.
For decades, banking has been built around a model in which customers come to the bank. First through branches. Then through our portals and apps. But that model is beginning to change. The future of banking is not simply about building better channels. It is about being there wherever the customer needs us.
Over the past few weeks, we had the opportunity to present BBVA Direct Payment in Mexico City and Monterrey, a solution that embodies this evolution particularly well.
BBVA Direct Payment enables customers to make payments directly from companies’ portals, apps and digital experiences, integrating the financial service at the precise moment when the transaction takes place. It is a solution known in the market as ‘Pay by Bank’ and brings to life one of the concepts that is transforming our industry: ‘Embedded Finance’.
We are therefore entering a new phase: banking is no longer a destination, but a capability that is available wherever the customer needs it.
This means evolving beyond our own channels and into our customers’ ecosystems, integrating naturally into their processes and platforms so that paying, receiving payments or accessing a financial service becomes ever simpler, more immediate and frictionless.
From my perspective, this is what makes BBVA Direct Payment truly significant. It is not simply about launching a new payments product, but about moving towards a new way of doing banking: more integrated, more contextual and closer to the moment when the need arises.
BBVA Direct Payment is a first step in that direction and opens the door to new possibilities. To a form of banking that becomes a natural part of our customers’ lives and businesses, enabling financial services to become part of the experience they themselves offer to their customers.
The future of payments is not about bringing the customer to the bank. It is about bringing the bank to the exact moment when the customer needs it.
